You do not want to take any risk with your plumbing, but many people throughout Toronto just call the first number that they come across when they have an emergency. If you are looking for a way to find your next Toronto plumber, these are a few red flags that you have to watch out for.

Sign #1 – Working Unlicensed And Uninsured

You do not want to assume that something is going to go wrong with your plumbing work, but you should be prepared for the fact that it does. You need to make sure that they are insured against potential damage and work both licensed and bonded. This does not mean that someone without insurance could not provide you with good work, but it does mean that you should not be taking the risk.

Sign #2 – They Only Have Basic Tools

If you have a plumbing professional (please note the word ‘professional’) you should not expect them to arrive in a beat-up pickup truck with nothing but basic plumbing tools. A reputable plumber has some of the latest technology with them and is going to be able to help you figure out exactly what is wrong with your plumbing.

Sign #3 – They Give You An Estimate Without Knowing The Work

We can be clear on this – if someone gives you an estimate without knowing the scope of the project, chances are that they are going to charge you more than they should. You cannot get a true estimate without knowing the project. A good plumbing professional is going to know the typical costs involved, but will still want to see larger projects before they can give you an estimate. A real plumbing professional will not want to end up with big surprises after completing a job, and you should not either.

Sign #4 – Low-balling The Estimate

If you are working with professionals, you should expect the project to be more expensive than if you are doing it yourself. That is probably why you are letting the professionals do it for you – because you cannot handle the job yourself.

Always look for these non-professionals to cut corners where possible. They are trying to gauge you on certain items that might be less expensive – because they are using inferior quality. You also want to make sure that they are not padding their estimate to a ridiculous degree.

If you have a supposed ‘professional’ come to you with a bid that seems ludicrously low, ask them where they get their parts. This is going to reveal that they are in fact not being honest with you.

If you are looking for an established Toronto plumber that has been around for a long time, we highly recommend Dr. Pipe Drain and Plumbing. They are known as leading experts and are always going to provide you with a fair quote and excellent craftmanship.
