It is important that you conduct regular maintenance on your pipes and drains, including regular drain line cleaning. Over time the constant flow of water can cause debris, dirt, soap residue, and sewage to build up and harden inside of the pipes. Eventually this can cause severe build up and blockage, leading to major clogs. If you do not clean drain line features regularly, you run the risk of further damage from pressure build up and the need for costly drain line repair. This can be avoided with drain line cleaning and flushing your pipes with the proper chemicals and solvents.
If the build up in your drain line is a result of grease build up, such as shower drains or sink drains, then you need to use a degreasing formula. When you pour a degreaser into your drains to conduct drain line cleaning you should dilute a heavy mixture with eight parts water to one part degreaser. Pour it down the drain and allow it to stand for five to ten minutes before rinsing the drain. Any clogged lines can be flushed clean with hot water once the degreaser has been allowed to sit for one to two hours.
If your drain begins to smell because of sewage or garbage build up, you need to use drain line treatment to fix it. You can liquefy any build up and remove it no matter its location with a chemical solvent which not only removes the clog but masks foul odors.
For regular drain line cleaning you can pour the grease trap mixture into the drains in your floor or sinks once every two weeks. This can help to regularly fight against the build up of grease and oils in your pipes. Alkaline liquid drain line cleaner can help to break up and flush out anything which might harm your pipes or cause a build up such as grease, organic matter, paper, oils, and hair. It will simultaneously reduce any odor from foul build up. When you are facing grease and oil build up, it is because the matter which was trapped in your drain and pipes became hard and insoluble. With regular drain line cleaning you can break up that build up softer, water soluble material which is then flushed away with your regular water cycle.
When you do clean drain line problems with chemicals, be sure to wear proper protective gear such as gloves and do not breathe in fumes which might be harmful. If the mixture contains dangerous chemicals, be cautious of letting it touch your skin, hair, or clothing.
